On Holiday-Day 22

“If you could do anything today, what would you do?” I asked Cherry the question on an August afternoon. We were captives of our home’s central air conditioning unit.

“Money is no object?”

“Whatever you want.”

“Unlimited shopping followed by a Sonic Slushy.” She turned to face me. “You?”

“I’d go to the beach, sit in the sand, and stare at the waves.”

She sighed.

Mentally, we escaped our prison, drapes like bars drawn against the heat.

  1. I’m living your dream and loving it!

  2. Lovely idea. I’ve been clibming the walls this August but my lovely sis took me to the beach last weekend; 30 minute drive, free parking and on a hot stuffy day, a very welcoming breeze. Today, I sit in a room with closed curtains to keep out the heat and am thinking of that beach. xxxx

  3. I could stare at the waves all day! The most peaceful things there is…even when it’s rough and choppy it’s calming and inspiring!

  4. Its so nice to hear about another parent talking to their children – and not talking to them like they’re two year olds.
    The beach sounds awesome.

  5. There are some things that money can’t buy! What a lovely piece!
