This is the last blog in the series of twelve. I’m close to finishing the rough draft of the book, so this week is about tying up loose ends. Here’s the big thing I’ve learned about blogging. Instead of taking away from writing my novel, blogging has enhanced it. Knowing that I have to post–so just do it already–has carried over into the longer work. Instead of worrying if the scene isn’t right, I’m writing the scene.
Yesterday, it wasn’t possible to write. Despite the circumstance, I itched to get to the page. This is a change. The need to write is a compulsion that, before, escaped my cognizance. Blogging has helped to redefine necessity.
It’s not a secret to those who know me, but I have perfectionist tendencies. Blogging is all about celebrating imperfection. Get it done, and get it out there.
Hey Liz,
Congrats on getting to the rough draft!! I have so enjoyed reading your blog everyday. I find I really miss it when you haven’t blogged that day. You should feel really proud of what you have accomplished. Not many people can say they are doing what they truly want to do with their life. So kudos to you, and hope everyone in the family is good. Also, happy belated to Cherry!
Love,
Lindsey

Lindsey, You are great! Thanks for reminding me that I’m doing exactly what I want to do. It’s easy to forget when the washer is broken or I’m suffering indignities at the doctor’s office. I’m going to do my best to keep blogging everyday. When I don’t make the effort, I miss it too. Thanks for being a faithful reader.
Love, Liz
