Do you see him? I didn’t at first, but my dog did. Jasmine sniffed the air and pointed. She’s not a hound, but that didn’t dilute her wolfish instinct.
I heard the word, schnauzer, in German meant nose. Hers worked today. She had to trip me with her leash to get my attention. But she never lost focus. And she didn’t yap. Remarkable. Schnauzers always yap.
Two other trail-walkers pulled up behind us. We must have looked silly, staring off into the woods. I felt obligated to divulge Jasmine’s discovery. The three humans pulled out cameras, trying to document what the dog knew instinctively.
Here’s a clearer view.
Antoine de Saint-Exupéry wrote in The Little Prince, “It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye.”
I should take lessons from Jasmine.
